The Bell Inn had recently been taken over by a new brewery, which was keen to improve the pub’s reputation in the area following a couple of disasters with poor management and resulting falling sales. This delightful 17th Century inn just oozed charm and history, with many authentic features, such as inglenook fireplaces and leaded windows.

What we did…

In order to maximise sales in the run up to the Christmas period, we established a “position” for The Bell to set it apart from rival pubs in the area. This put an emphasis on the warm welcome, excellent menu and classic atmosphere, as well as profiling the new landlords.

  • We established a brand design for The Bell that reflected these values and designed menus and flyers in this style.
  • We scheduled Facebook posts to engage with the local community and arranged a mail drop introducing the new landlords.
  • We worked on a calendar of events that we could market; Halloween, Bonfire Night, a Christmas jumper competition and a New Year’s Eve black tie event.

The result was a 40% increase in sales from the start to the end of the project.

Follow-up & Testimonial

Since working on The Bell, the landlords have moved onto a new project with The Chequers in Chipping Norton. Read our latest case study on this project to learn more about our work on launch events, and read a glowing testimonial from landlord Darren Gillett.
